What makes Gea Thuis different from other providers?

Gea Thuis originates from the care sector and operates out of commitment to the elderly. We support you in finding a regular support worker who suits you.

Your autonomy is central to this process: you make the arrangements yourself and determine how the support is structured. We support you in this process so that you can make the right choice in a clear and personal manner.

Because we focus on support and mediation, our services often remain accessible and cost-effective.


Who is Gea Thuis intended for?

The support is intended for elderly people who need companionship, guidance, or extra help. This often involves people who live alone or whose informal caregivers need relief.


Is Gea Thuis the same as home care?

No, certainly not. Home care focuses on medical care, personal care, or household help. The support via Gea Thuis focuses purely on companionship, odd jobs, and personal attention.


Who are the supporters?

The support workers have an affinity with the elderly; often a support worker is middle-aged themselves (although this is not a requirement). Gea Thuis connects you with people selected for commitment, reliability, and an appropriate attitude.

The support consists of companionship, guidance, and light practical help in daily life.


What can a support worker do?

A support worker offers personal attention and support, such as:

  • accompany to appointments


Komt er steeds dezelfde ondersteuner?

Yes. You work with a dedicated support person who works directly for you. This ensures familiarity and a bond of trust.


How often can a support worker visit?

You agree on this yourself with the support worker, tailored to your situation. Under the home services scheme, one support worker may visit you on a maximum of 3 days a week (even 1 hour counts as a day).


Hoe lang duurt een bezoek?

Many people opt for a visit of several hours, so that there is ample time for attention, conversation, or an activity together.

We recommend letting a visit last at least two hours. This allows space to truly unwind and prevents the interaction from feeling rushed.


Kan een ondersteuner meegaan naar afspraken?

Yes, consultation with your support worker is possible.


Can a support worker help with groceries?

Yes, shopping together is a possibility; discuss this with your support worker.


Can support also be provided on weekends?

Does a support worker also help with household chores?

A support worker can usually help with light practical tasks. Heavy household chores are not included. You coordinate this in consultation with your support worker.


What happens in the event of illness or absence?

Hoe verloopt de kennismaking?

During the introductory meeting, you discuss your situation, wishes, and expectations. We put you in touch with a support worker who might be a good fit. You then decide for yourself whether this is a suitable match.


Hoe snel kan de ondersteuning starten?

In many cases, support can start within 14 days of the application.


Kan ik eerst kennismaken?

Yes, you will always have an initial meeting. This is the basis of our working method.

Tijdens deze kennismaking beoordeelt u zelf of er een goede persoonlijke klik is. U bepaalt of de voorgestelde ondersteuner bij u past.

Support will only start when you explicitly agree to this.


What if I don't know exactly what I need yet?

Kosten en betaling


How much does the support cost?

Together with the support worker, you make arrangements regarding appropriate compensation, within the framework of the Home Services Scheme.

We can provide you with an indication of what is customary, so that you can reach a fair agreement together.


How does the payment work?

Payment is made directly between you and the support provider. You pay the service fees separately to Gea Thuis.


Are there service charges?

Yes. You pay service charges for the services of Gea Thuis.

Finding a suitable support worker is a careful and labor-intensive process. We take the time to thoroughly understand your situation and connect you with someone who is a perfect match for you.

To avoid burdening you with high one-off costs, we often work with a monthly service subscription.

The advantage of this is that:

  • you can always rely on a fixed point of contact
  • we remain available for questions and support
  • and you can build up and adjust the support calmly and clearly


Are taxes and contributions applicable?

Gea Thuis stelt hiervoor praktische voorbeelddocumenten beschikbaar die u kunt gebruiken.


Can the support be paid for via a PGB?

In many situations, the compensation for the support worker can be paid via a PGB; you arrange this through the SVB (Social Insurance Bank).


Are there hidden costs?

No. We work with clear and transparent agreements.


Agreement and amendments How does the agreement work?

You make your own arrangements with the support worker regarding the support and reimbursement. Gea Thuis provides practical documents for this purpose.


Can I adjust the support?

Yes. You can adjust the arrangements together with the support worker when your situation changes.


Can I stop?

Ja. U bespreekt dit met de ondersteuner en geeft dit door aan Gea Thuis. Wij ondersteunen u bij een zorgvuldige afronding.

That can happen. Supporters sometimes make a different choice or their situation changes.
