This is not home nursing

It is important to make a clear distinction.

Gea Thuis does not provide home nursing or personal care.

Gea companions do not provide medical or nursing procedures and do not take over tasks such as washing, dressing, wound care or administering medication as professional nursing care.

Gea Thuis is intended for people who primarily need:

company, practical assistance, personal attention and support with everyday life.

If your loved one requires professional nursing or personal care, Dutch home-care services may be more appropriate.

Gea Thuis can, however, be a valuable addition alongside existing professional care.

How Gea Thuis works

1. Tell us about the situation

Please send an e-mail to welkom@geathuis.nl to briefly tell us who you are, where your loved one lives in the Netherlands and what kind of support you are looking for.

2. We contact you by email

Our first contact will be by email. This gives us the opportunity to understand the situation a little better and, if needed, ask a few additional questions.

3. We can arrange a personal call

Once we have a clear first picture of the situation, we can arrange a telephone or video call at a suitable time.

4. We look for a suitable local companion

If Gea Thuis appears to be a good fit, we look for someone whose personality, availability and location match your loved one's needs.

5. Your loved one meets the companion

There is always an opportunity to meet first.

Only if it feels right do you continue together.

Help close to your loved one

Gea Thuis works throughout the Netherlands. Where possible, we look for a companion who lives in or close to the town where your loved one lives.

That means support is not only personal, but also local.

Our first contact will be by email.

We will review your message personally and respond by email. If it makes sense to discuss the situation further, we can then arrange a telephone or video call together. You do not need to have everything figured out before contacting us. A short description of the situation is enough for us to start.

Does Gea Thuis provide home nursing?

No. Gea Thuis does not provide professional home nursing or personal care. We focus on finding companionship, practical assistance and personal support in everyday life.

Can you help if I live outside the Netherlands?

Yes. You can contact Gea Thuis from abroad if your parent lives in the Netherlands. We can discuss the situation with you remotely and look for a suitable companion near your parent (loved one).

Will my parent have the same person each time?

Our aim is to match your parent with one regular, trusted companion. Continuity and a good personal connection are important to us.

Can a companion accompany my parent to appointments?

Yes. A companion may, for example, go along to an appointment, on a walk, to the shops or to another activity.

Can Gea Thuis help someone who already receives home care?

Yes. Gea Thuis can complement professional home care. A home-care provider may focus on nursing or personal care, while a Gea companion can provide time, company and practical support.
